Note the overtime rate. From the Sportage upward it is PKR 2,000 an hour rather than PKR 500, because an hour of a large SUV with a driver who has already worked twelve is not an hour of a Wagon R. The split is published rather than discovered.

The Sportage is the most comfortable car in the fleet for five people on a long road. What it is not is a vehicle for roads that stop being roads. That is the Fortuner and the Prado, and it matters more than the badge.
What it is right for
- Five adults on a motorway day. Islamabad, Multan, Faisalabad in genuine comfort.
- An executive who wants an SUV rather than a sedan, without the running cost of a Land Cruiser.
- Murree and the Galiyat in normal conditions. Height, comfort and an easy drive.
- A month with a family, where the school run and the weekend are the same vehicle.
What it is wrong for
- Seven people. It is a five seater. The Fortuner and the Prado are the seven seat answers.
- Babusar, Skardu and the Karakoram Highway. See the northern areas page.
- Saving money on a long trip. A sedan does the M2 on considerably less fuel, and you buy the fuel.
