Rent a Car from Lahore to Kartarpur with a Driver

Gurdwara Darbar Sahib at Kartarpur, about a hundred and ten kilometres from Lahore, and the one journey where the paperwork matters as much as the road.

PKR 10,000 one way and PKR 16,000 return with a driver, fuel and tolls included. Kartarpur is in Narowal district, about 110 kilometres from Lahore, and the drive takes around two hours. The corridor arrangements for pilgrims crossing from India change from time to time and are a matter for the authorities rather than for us; what we can commit to is the car, the driver and the fare.

The journey

North east, through Narowal district

Distance
About 110 km to the gurdwara
Drive time
About 2 hours door to door
Route
North east from Lahore through Muridke and Narowal
Road type
National and district highway rather than motorway. Good, but not an M2
Shape of the day
A full day trip, comfortably there and back
Combining with Nankana Sahib
Opposite directions. Two days rather than one

Because this is not motorway driving, the time estimate is less predictable than for Islamabad or Multan. We leave margin in the plan rather than quoting the optimistic number.

The corridor

What we will not pretend to know

The Kartarpur Corridor allows pilgrims to cross from India to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib. It is operated by the Government of Pakistan, its registration process, fees and opening arrangements have changed since it opened, and they are not ours to state.

Our position

We publish what we control: the vehicle, the driver, the fare, the fuel and the tolls. We do not publish current corridor rules, visa positions or entry requirements, because a page that gets those wrong causes real harm to someone standing at a border. Check the current position with the Pakistani authorities, and bring us the dates once you have them.

If you are travelling from within Pakistan, none of that applies and this is simply a two hour drive each way. If you are arriving from abroad into Lahore, the page for visitors covers booking on a passport and the airport arrival.

Tell us the dates and we will send the full price.

The rate, the duty hours, the overtime and every extra, in one message, before you commit to anything.

Questions

Asked and answered

The questions people actually put to us on this subject, with the figures rather than a promise to discuss them.

How far is Kartarpur from Lahore?

About 110 kilometres to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Narowal district. Routed sources give between 106 and 110 kilometres and a drive of roughly an hour and a half to an hour and forty minutes.

How much does a car to Kartarpur cost?

PKR 10,000 one way and PKR 16,000 return with a driver, fuel and tolls inside the fare. Group vehicles are quoted on the same basis.

Can it be done in a day from Lahore?

Yes, comfortably. Four hours of driving in total leaves a full visit in between. Most people go and return the same day.

What about the Kartarpur Corridor from India?

The corridor is operated by the Government of Pakistan and the arrangements change from time to time. We do not publish rules we do not set. Check the current position with the authorities before travelling and we will handle the ground transport in Pakistan.

Can you combine Kartarpur and Nankana Sahib?

They are in opposite directions from Lahore, so it is two days rather than one if you want to see both properly. We will quote it as two fixed fares or as a two day arrangement, whichever works out better.
